WINTER VISITORS

For some reason, we don't get a lot of visitors here. It's as if northern Mississippi is not at the top of the list of vacation spots for most people! Well, we may not have a lot in the way of local tourist attractions (unless you're really into Elvis), but we do have a good time when our friends come to visit!

A SURPRISE VISIT FROM MIKE

To help celebrate Rob's 40th birthday, Rob's long-time but rarely seen friend Mike made the 7-hour drive up from southwest Louisiana where he works deep-sea diving on oil rigs. Mike and Rob became good friends almost 15 years ago in Arizona, but they've only seen each other a handful of times in the last 10 years.

Mike brought quite the classy gift! This gift might take a while to finish off, since we rarely get into the tequila zone in our "old age".

A VISIT FROM PEACHY

Rowan's godmother Peachy came to visit at the end of January! Peachy is Carley's best friend from college, and she was on her way back to Austin, Texas, after a year-and-a-half working on Barack Obama's presidential campaign. (Long-time readers will remember our visit with Peachy in South Carolina last winter.) We all enjoyed having her for the weekend, and we wish her the best in her next endeavor, whatever it may turn out to be!

A VISIT FROM EDDIE AND MATT

At the beginning of March, our friend Eddie (right) and his son Matt dropped in for a visit on their roadtrip across the country. Longtime readers of this blog may remember that Eddie was one of our roommates in Guatemala about 4 years ago. At that time, Eddie had been teaching English in various countries around the world for the previous five years. His most recent travels that brought him through Mississippi will have him settling with Matt in Asheville, North Carolina, after the past few years in New Mexico, Arizona and California. We all had a good weekend sharing travel stories and musical finds, and we wish them the best as they start a new chapter in Asheville!
